Moving Tips

Since there is a lot involved with moving, especially now that we have kids, I decided to turn to trusty Pinterest for some moving tips and ideas. I found some great tips and ideas, and I thought I would share my favorite ones with everyone!

PS- this will be my last post until we move. We are four days away from moving day!!!

On each box I marked what items where in the box and which room it will be going to in our new homed. I made sure to make on the top of the box and also on the side of the box.

To pack our plates and bowls, I bought foam plates/bowls to put in between each one for traveling purposes so they don't break. Then I also surrounded the inside of the box with paper towels.

To keep our clothes cleaning during our move, I bought garbage and put all of our clean clothes inside. I made a slit in the bottom of the garbage sack so the hangers could fit through, and then opening of the garbage bag is at the bottom. Made my own personal garment bag.

I made a tote with all the things we will need right away when we move in. This tote is filled with cleaning products, a mini tool set, ibuprofen, tums, toilet paper, Band-Aids, hand soap, hand sanitizer, and cleaning gloves.

I also packed the boys a bag for the first night/day as well we a bag for Brandon and with all the stuff items we will need for the first 24 hours: clothes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo and soap.

Meal Plans

To be honest, I don't really have any meal plans this week because it is MOVING WEEK! So I guess my plan is to eat whatever we want so we have less to move on Friday. This will probably be a very unhealthy week for my family...oopppss!!! Oh well, it is only a week, right???

Kid Quotes

We have been working really hard lately with Brayden using his words more. Everyday when we get him dressed, I have him repeat words about the piece of clothing that is going on. I call their socks, sockies, so Brayden's word for sockie is cocky. Hahaha he just makes me laugh.

Brody's new phrase is, "Mom, are you mad at me, or are you happy at me?" He says this to Brandon and I all the time. He will say it at complete random times, or sometimes I think he says it get out of trouble...smart little cookie!

Weekly Meal Plan

Here are the meals I have planned for this week (again still cleaning out some food for moving):

  • Monday- Grilling steaks (it's going to be 55 degrees!), green beans, garlic breadd
  • Tuesday- Chicken stir fry with brown rice
  • Wednesday- Tacos with chips and salsa
  • Thursday- I'm working late, so whatever Brandon is cooking
  • Friday- Eating out (Pancheros!)
  • Saturday-
    • Pancakes and sausage
    • Fish Sticks with veggies
  • Sunday-
    • Sloopy Joes with veggies
    • Left overs from the week

Throwback Thursday

I found this picture the other day as I was packing. This was from Worlds of Fun in 2004. I think we rode the log ride about ten times before we got a picture we liked.

Dad's Update

On Wednesday, February 19th Dad went in for angiogram because he has been having some chest pain for the past few months. We found out that Dad's LAD was 100% blocked and he needed to have open heart surgery. He was transported on Thursday to Mercy in the blizzard. Then on Monday, February 24th, Dad had triple bypass. Everything went as planned and he was released from Mercy on Friday, February 28th. He has been recovering back home in Laurens since then and is doing great. The two words of, thank you, aren't enough to thank everyone for the prayers and love we have received, but we want you all to know that it was all greatly appreciated. We love you all!

Here are some pictures from our stay in Des Moines. We had to the boys entertained so we had to make a trip to Dollar Tree.

PS: Hilz don't kill me for posting the picture of you and Brody sleeping...it is just too sweet not share. :)

Time for a little throwback

I was looking through my mom's phone and came across some oldies but goodies and thought I would share. Looking back at these, it feels like yesterday and makes me sad at how fast time actually goes! Live each day to the fullest and cherish memories!

I believe Brody was about 8 months old in the picture

I think he was about 7 months old here

Oh sad face Brayden :( I think Brayden was probably 16 months old

This was Brayden's first birthday party in the bouncy house

This was Mother's Day in 2013

Brody was 18 months old and in the background Brayden was a month old.

Weekly Meal Plan

I missed last week because my dad had an emergency surgery, (which I will post about later) so here is the menu for this week. Oh PS--we are getting ready to move in 19 days, so I've been trying to clean out the deep freeze and eat everything so we have less to move.

  • Monday- Peanut butter and jelly with veggies  (It's just me and the boys since Brandon has to work late)
  • Tuesday- Ham and cooked asparagus with parmesan cheese
  • Wednesday- Macaroni and cheese with hot dogs
  • Thursday- I work late so Brandon is the chef for the evening.
  • Friday- Eat out
  • Saturday- We are headed to Laurens to see dad--but I will make some muffins for breakfast to clean those out of the pantry.
  • Sunday-
    • Fish and veggies
    • Chicken Fried rice with egg rolls

Valentine's Day

We had a great Valentine's Day this year. It was very low key--just the way we like it. We made Valentine's Day gifts for daycare the day before. We got little cups, filled them with candy, and wrapped them up. Then we ordered a Papa Murphy's heart shaped pizza, rented Free Birds and had popcorn and candy. We also moved up the mattress from the guest bed and had a slumber party in the living room! It was a great Valentine's Day!

Gifts for daycare. The boys received Avenger cups with candy and the girls received princess cups with candy.

I found these at Target one night and gave to the boys for their Valentine's Day gift. They love them and want to wear them everyday! Great purchase!

Our heart-shaped pizza!

The first ones to crash for the night--party poopers! :)
